Families are left to navigate a sea of uncertainty, relying on word-of-mouth and fragmented information during critical moments. In Western countries, the challenges are different but equally frustrating. Emergency hospital visits come with sky-high costs, and primary care or ER physicians often refer patients to specialists — but the wait for those appointments can stretch for weeks or even months. Meanwhile, patients and families spend sleepless days and nights worrying, waiting, and feeling powerless.

True story : When a close family member in India developed severe post-operative complications, I flew in from the U.S. as our family was suddenly thrust into a medical crisis requiring urgent, high-stakes decisions. The next surgery demanded coordination between multiple specialties—Gastrointestinal, Head and Neck, Plastic Surgery, and Cardiothoracic.

What we quickly discovered was both shocking and disheartening: finding a hospital or surgeon not only willing, but able to manage such a complex, multidisciplinary case was incredibly difficult. No single institution had the right combination of top specialists available. Even when we found individual experts, getting them to coordinate across departments—or worse, across different hospitals—was nearly impossible.

We spent months chasing answers—searching online for doctor profiles, calling hospitals, asking friends and family for referrals, and waiting weeks for specialist appointments, only to start the cycle again at another institution. Each step was siloed. No one place or platform offered a truly integrated view or access to the kind of coordinated care the situation demanded.

After over 3 months and countless hours of coordination, we finally managed to align four top specialists across institutions and confirm a surgical plan. But the emotional, logistical, and financial toll was enormous—and avoidable.
